Those planning on uploading a “Let’s Play” or “Walkthrough” of Grand Theft Auto V to YouTube might want to take a look at Rockstar’s copyright policy page, just in case all of that material happens to get flagged, or magically disappear.
Rockstar isn’t the first company to crack down on content from their titles showing up online, but to avoid any confusion they have updated their copyright rules for those who still want to share content on YouTube:
- While this may not be applicable at the moment, no pre-release footage can be uploaded, including “Unboxing” videos; Rockstar will have these, or any videos with game-footage before the official release removed
- “Isolated” spoliers will be removed; unless it’s part of a larger “Let’s Play” or “Walkthrough”, users cannot post strictly a key moment of the plot…the ending for example. Those who wish to confirm what elements are considered spoilers, can send inquiries to “copyright@take2games.com”
- In-game entertainment will be removed unless it’s part of a series; think of this as posting just the “God Only Knows” segment from Bioshock Infinite, without posting the rest of the series.
Rockstar also has the right to remove content on a case-by-case basis, so it’s just best to use good judgement when capturing footage.
