Quantic Dream’s latest title may have been too much for US and European markets, as both versions will have content edited within their final releases.
David Cage’s titles tend to include controversial subjects; Pagan symbols and possession in Indigo Prophecy, child kidnapping and psychological torture in Heavy Rain….awkward sex scenes in both- the Quantic Dream titles attempt to have a “mature” presence in the video game index. Beyond: Two Souls, the newest game from Quantic and Cage, touted as featuring Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe, may have pushed the boundaries of acceptable content a little too far, as both the US and European versions will have content edited before their releases next week: The European version will have a short instance of violence edited in order for Beyond to fit within the PEGI 16+ rating; according to a German gaming website, the US version will have a short moment of “erotic representation” edited from the final release. According to Sony’s Ross Alexander, both instances only account for “5-10 seconds of gameplay”.
While the demo is already available, Beyond: Two Souls will release on Oct. 8 in the US, and Oct. 11 in Europe.
