‘Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut’, ‘Universe’ Announced

Revisit the cyber-renaissance with Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut, and the future of human augmentation, with Deus Ex: Universe.

The third chapter of Deus Ex will receive an updated version with extra content and Wii U optimization, with Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut. As shown in the trailer, this version includes the DLC chapter “The Missing Link”, and will include several new gameplay elements: The Wii U GamePad can be used as a sniper scope, inventory screen, Smart Vision display, Hacking input, even a Looting interface; players now have the ability to toss thrown grenades back at enemies; New Game+ is available after completing the main campaign. This version will also feature an in-game strategy guide and developer commentaries; it’s not specified whether these will be brand new commentaries, or the ones featured from Human Revolution – Augmented Edition. According to a post on the Eidos Montreal website, the Wii U GamePad features might be available for PS3 and 360 via the PSVita and SmartGlass:

Deus Ex: Universe was also teased today; Universe will not be the next title in the series, but will consist of several future Deus Ex games. Universe will essentially be just that- a universe; the next series of Deus Ex games will feature a unified world, connected across several games, and will include a conspiracy much larger than the smaller plots at hand. This gives Eidos Montreal the ability to expand the universe and deliver a “more immersive and richer experience than ever before”. According to Head of Studio David Anfossi, Universe will not just be limited to “PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc…”

As part of Deus Ex: Universe, Anfossi also confirmed that a new Deus Ex title is in-development from the same team behind Human Revolution, and will be available for PC and next-gen consoles; no other information was revealed, however a single piece of concept art was posted:

Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Director’s Cut will be available on Oct. 22 (PAL regions will release on Oct. 25) for Wii U, 360, PS3 and PC.
