Beginning next year, Xbox 360 owners who use their console as a TV receiver under AT&T U-Verse will no longer have access to the service.
Those with AT&T’s U-Verse service may or may not have known that an Xbox 360 could have been registered as a separate TV receiver; after Dec. 31- so Jan. 1, 2014– AT&T will no longer support the 360 as a registered device. Originally, a conversion kit and Xbox Live Gold membership were required in order to access U-Verse through the console; production of the conversion kit was halted in 2012.
Those who are affected by the discontinuation of U-Verse for 360 will receive a $99 bill-credit “within one to two billing cycles”which will cover the cost of the Gold membership and any extra billing/service fees. According to Polygon, AT&T is dropping the service due to “low customer demand”.
