
Thursday’s Nintendo Direct offered fans a new trailer for the wild, supernatural action game Bayonetta 2, along with a glimpse of new characters, and more information about the ancient war between the Umbran Witches and Lumen Sages.
Bayonetta was released in 2010 (2009 in Japan) for the PS3 and Xbox 360; the title features a wild combo-based combat system that moved at a blistering pace, and incredible enemy-design within the “flip-flopped” war between the Lumen Sages and last survivng member of the Umbran Witches, Bayonetta. 2012 revealed that the sexualized witch would return to consoles again as a Wii U exclusive.
Bayonetta 2 news has been sparse, but Thursday’s Nintendo Direct broadcast included a new gameplay trailer, which sheds some light on the 500 year war between the two factions, introduces Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso into the world. and introduces a new character trapped within Purgatorio:
While Bayonetta 2 is slated to release in 2014, no official release date was announced; Bayonetta 2 will release in Japan this summer, but no windows were given for any other regions.
