‘Minecraft’ Blamed For Florida School Incident

A 9-yr-old was sentenced to home-confinement after bringing weapons to school within his backpack; his father blames his son’s actions……on Minecraft.

Yesterday, a student from Hunter’s Creek Elementary in Orlando, FL was sentenced in court to home confinement after an officer discovered several weapons hidden inside the child’s backpack; his backpack contained a small hammer, steak knife, a magazine with six bullets, and an unloaded handgun. Officials say that all of the items indeed came from his house, and the handgun was his father’s.

According to the father, the child was simply reenacting his character from Minecraft, a game where “they use hammers to dig and knives and guns to protect themselves from zombies“. Before the incident, the child told friends that he had the weapons in his backpack; the friends then notified the elementary school’s resource officer; he was charged with “possession of a firearm on school grounds, possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor”.

According to the child’s father, the gun was “stored in a drawer but the firing pin component had been removed”.

…..Mojang has not added guns and knives to Minecraft, nor have they confirmed their existence in future updates.
