Video game consoles are slowly emerging from unexpected places; with the NVidia Shield, Razer Blade and Edge, and Valve’s future Steam Machines, Mad Catz is throwing their hat into the arena with the Android-based M.O.J.O.
The Mad Catz “M.O.J.O. Micro-Console for Android” was announced back in summer during E3, but the peripheral manufacturer finally gave a release date for their console: December 10. With plug-and-play TV-based consoles on the rise, the M.O.J.O. aims to be the best choice for Android-platform consoles, such as the Ouya; the console will feature a Tegra 4 T40S 1.8 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of storage, HDMI port, Bluetooth connectivity, microSD slot, Wi-Fi, and will run on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS. The M.O.J.O. plays Android games purchased through Google Play and Amazon App Store, as long as they feature 3rd-party controller support (in order to use the C.T.R.L.R.).
The M.O.J.O. is now available for pre-order via Mad Catz for $249.99, and will release on Dec. 10.
