FTL: Faster Than Light will receive a few upgrades to the PC version, along with an iPad release sometime in 2014.
Faster Than Light is getting an updated edition next year with FTL: Advanced Edition. Those who already own the current version will receive a free upgrade upon next year’s release; an iPad version will share a simultaneous release with its PC-counterpart. The new version contains several fan-requested features, such as saving the positions of crew members, more store-items, and the ability to save and exit the game during combat; other new features include Hacking, Mind Control, a new Sector, and several new environments, weapons, enemies and drones:
While FTL: Advanced Edition will be available for 2nd-Gen iPad/iPad Mini and higher, there are no plans to bring the title onto smartphones; there is a possibility that FTL will eventually come to other platforms such as the Windows tablets and Android OS, but not until the iPad version is complete:
“…Learning from the difficulties of the past, we’re trying to preserve our sanity by focusing on one system at a time. Expanding tablet support will be our next highest priority, but we don’t want to make any promises (or rejections) until we’re 100% sure of the outcome.”
FTL: Faster Than Light is currently available for PC, Mac and Linux through Steam for $9.99; Advanced Edition for both PC and iPad will be available sometime in 2014, but the “vanilla” version can still be accessed from within the game.
