After a shaky end to 2013, EA has even more issues to deal with, as hackers brought down several BF4 servers along with EA’s digital distribution platform, Origin.
Early this morning, EA’s PC service Origin suffered a brief outage, preventing users from accessing their accounts and the store. Shortly after, several multiplayer Battlefield 4 servers fell victim to a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack, also preventing users from playing online. According to Twitter, both attacks were from hacker-group “DERP”; DERP is also responsible for the recent targeting of Twitch.TV member Phantoml0rd, as they successfully brought down every game and service that he tried to stream on his account- Battle.net, EA.com, League of Legends, and World of Warcraft.
Origin and Battlefield 4 are both currently online; the rescheduled “double-XP weekend” for Battlefield 4 Premium members is happening this weekend- Jan 3-5.
