The list of casualties from this week’s hacking-spree increases, as Xbox Live has started experiencing DDoS attacks.
Over the past few weeks, several online games and services have all fallen victim to hacking, whether through DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) or other means; the most recent incidents occurred earlier today with Origin, Battlefield 4 and even Steam suffering from problems involving users being unable to access their accounts. The hacker group DERP claimed responsibility for today’s earlier attacks on Origin and BF4‘s multiplayer servers; their next target appears to be Microsoft’s Xbox Live service. Throughout the evening, the DERP Twitter account has been hinting at Live being the next in their series of targets; users are already beginning to report log-in errors:
DERP was also responsible for a recent string of attacks on Twitch.TV user Phantoml0rd, and sites and games Battle.net, EA.com, League of Legends and World of Warcraft.

Thanks for sharing. Games seem to be just another victim to the hackers of the world as groups of activists work to shut down content they disagree with. As games continually use graphic scenes and sensitive content, there will always be a group of individuals intent on silencing such displays.
