The tomahawk-wielding commander of lightning is the next character in Killer Instinct‘s “free” rotation.

The cries of devoted Killer Instinct fans were heard last year, as Rare and Double Helix brought the franchise back for a gorgeous next-gen debut, complete with new character models, and a brand new character to the series, Sadira. While Killer Instinct for Xbox One is a solid fighter that stays true to its predecessors, it has an odd marketing structure: for $59.99, players can purchase Killer Instinct: Ultimate Edition, which includes all characters from “Season 1”, the original Killer Instinct, and a collection of physical pins upon their releases; other digital tiers exist, with each one corresponding to a specific amount of available content- the rest must be purchased as extras:

Those who have the free version of Killer Instinct can currently download Thunder as the free character in-rotation; his next-gen incarnation dropped the title of “Chief”, and has been re-imagined as a “powerhouse” character. Previous characters in the rotation have included Sabrewulf and Jago. “Season 1” is still underway, but future additions to the roster include Spinal and Fulgore.
