Even with the release of The Sims 4 is on the horizon, The Sims 2 still has an extremely large, still-active fanbase. Unfortunately, EA will no longer provide content for the classic social-simulator, however the “Ultimate Collection” will be available as a free upgrade for those who purchased a digital copy of the game.
The Sim franchises are some of the highest-selling PC sagas in history. Ranging from Sim Tycoon, to Sim City, and The Sims, EA’s titles feature a robust variety of environments and industries to control….and occasionally, lives to destroy. Despite the release of The Sims 3, and the release of The Sims 4 due later this year, The Sims 2 remains as the life-simulation series’s most popular title.
In an update to its technical support site, EA announced that all content and technical support for The Sims 2 has been ceased. However, those who may encounter problems with the title can still contact EA Help for assistance and troubleshooting. To lessen the blow to some fans, the publisher/developer giant is releasing The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection as a free upgrade for those who purchased a digital copy of The Sims 2 through either the EA Store or Origin. Those without The Sims 2 can purchase the Ultimate Collection as a standalone product, as it includes the game, along with every single expansion released over the years.
The Sims 4 is the next entry in The Sims series, and will release for PC on 9/2.
