Razer Unveils New Studio Quality Recording Mic

Razer is expanding its line of professional-level audio equipment with a brand new studio microphone- the Seirēn.

While some may associate Razer with keyboards and mice for PC gaming enthusiasts, the iconic snake-logo has since found itself on tablets, specialized laptops, studio headphones, and even custom PC cases. Razer’s audio catalog now has a new addition, with the Razer Seirēn.

The Seirēn is a desktop USB condenser mic, equipped with three 14mm capsules that allow for various recording configurations.  Able to record at 192kHz/24-bit, the Seirēn features an OLED information display, a 3.5mm input for zero-latency monitoring, and four on-board recording patterns that are selected with the turn of a knob:

  • “Cardioid”: Cardioid is suited for podcasts, voice-overs and dubbing, acoustic instruments and online streaming
  • “Stereo”: Stereo records using 2-channels (i.e. left/right) and is best for vocals and instruments
  • “Omnidirectional”: Best used for conference calls and meetings, as this captures all audio around the mic
  • “Bidirectional”: Bidirectional records audio from directly in front and behind the Seirēn, and is best suited for interviews, acoustic instruments, and vocal duets

The Razer Seirēn comes equipped with an aluminum stabilizing base; a shock mount and pop filter can be purchased separately.

Along with the announcement of the Seirēn, Razer is offering a sponsorship program for qualified online streamers; depending on the applicant’s qualifications, Razer may offer one of three sponsorship tiers, which feature the likes of discounted- or free- Razer audio equipment, affiliate links, and featured posts on Razer’s social media outlets. Interested streamers can apply through Razer’s website.

The Razer Seirēn is available for pre-order for $179.99; units will begin shipping on 12/19.
