‘Borderlands: The Handsome Collection’ Coming To Next-Gen Consoles

Borderlands 2, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! and the majority of their combined add-ons are all coming to the PS4 and Xbox One, with Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.

(Update: The Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition is currently sold-out through GameStop.)

Earlier today, Texas-based Gearbox Software announced Borderlands: The Handsome Collection for the next-gen consoles. This PS4/Xbox One-exclusive compilation follows Handsome Jack’s rise within the Hyperion Corporation, and the ensuing plight of the Vault Hunters quest to take him down. While the other three Borderlands titles all featured split-screen co-op [on consoles], The Handsome Collection will be the first to include full 4-player “couch co-op”, a multiplayer option not often seen among modern shooters.

If players have save data from either Borderlands 2 or Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! on the Xbox 360 or PS3, said data can be transferred into their next-gen counterparts. Not only will The Handsome Collection include remastered versions of the two Handsome Jack games, but all current DLC- for both games- will be included on both platforms.

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection will release on 3/24 in North America, with both a standard and super-limited collector’s edition available for pre-order. The standard copy will sell for the common retail price of $59.99 on both the PS4 and Xbox One; the “Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition” will run at $399.99 and contains 12 lithographs, a steel case, and a quote-filled remote-controlled Claptrap replica. Claptrap can be controlled through the “ClapTrapp App” on Android and iOS; a working camera is installed within its eye, which can stream live video to the user’s phone.

In conjunction with the announcement of the Handsome Collection, WeLoveFine and Gearbox are holding a community apparel-design contest; the winner will receive a trip to Dallas, TX and a tour of Gearbox Software’s offices.
