A total of 19 classic Sega titles are no longer available for Android and iOS devices- for now.
Several of Sega’s older Genesis, Saturn and 32x games were previously available for select Android and iOS devices via the App Store and Google Play. Earlier this month, the Sonic, Jet Set Radio and Super Monkey Ball publisher announced that a number of titles were to be removed in the coming future. As of today, 19 classic games are no longer available to download.
Several mobile ports, including Ecco the Dolphin, After Burner Climax, Jet Set Radio and the original Golden Axe trilogy are no longer listed in either of the primary mobile stores; searching for these will lead users to a “not found” page. The full list of removed games is as follows:
- After Burner Climax
- Altered Beast
- Ecco the Dolphin
- Golden Axe 1-3
- Jet Set Radio
- Phantasy Star 2
- Space Harrier 2
- Super Monkey Ball 1-2
- Super Monkey Ball Adventure
- Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz
- Super Monkey Ball Tip ‘n’ Tilt 1-2
- Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll
- Streets of Rage 1 & 3
- Virtua Fighter 2
While these games are no longer accessible on Google Play or the App Store, those who previously purchased any of these titles are able to download them again on devices connected to their Google or Apple accounts.
With the announcement made earlier this month, Sega hinted that these titles may not be indefinitely removed from mobile stores, as “given the right situation, these titles may return in an updated form.”
