Sony announced earlier today that a Gran Turismo film is in works…Yes, a film based on the Playstation-exclusive racing series is making its way to the silver screen.

While it may seem like a far-fetched idea to have a film based on a racing game, car chases are just one of the many defining features of the action movie genre; “The Fast and the Furious” is a prime example of this, as the series continues to show success, even after six installments. Information about the Gran Turismo film is extremely limited at the moment, but The Wrap revealed that Mike de Luca and Danni Brunetti of “The Social Network” and “Fifty Shades of Grey” have signed on for the project.

While the idea of a Gran Turismo movie may be difficult to grasp, a Need For Speed film, as well as a Hot Wheels film, are both in production.
