‘Skullgirls’ Console Update Taking “Longer Than Anticipated”

The first of many DLC characters for Skullgirls has been available on PC for a few months now; Lab Zero is still working to bring console versions up to speed, but fans may have to wait a while longer.

Skullgirls released on PC back in August; since its release, PC players have received several balance updates, special effects updates, engine patches, and Squigly- the first of five crowd-funded DLC characters. While the PC version continues to receive updates, the PS3 and 360 versions still lack Squigly and other various patches. Lab Zero CEO Peter Bartholow reassured Indiegogo campaign participants that the developer was still working on the Skullgirls console versions, but several life events and business roadblocks have delayed their progress:

“1. There were more bugs introduced by the PC version than anticipated. We believe we’ve mostly cleared these up now, but still need more time before we go back into test.

2. Second, MikeZ got married (!!!) and that naturally took a lot of time away from fixing bugs.

3. We need Konami to help us out some with some things in order to do some Microsoft TRC checks, and thus far they have been completely unresponsive. Feel free to use this information however you see fit.”

Before the PC version, Xbox 360 patches arrived later than the PS3 due to Microsoft TRC checks. Skullgirls is currently available for 360, PS3 and PC; Squigly is currently only available for the PC version.
