Love is in the air, as the next “Headhunter” DLC for Borderlands 2 releases tomorrow, and features Mad Moxxi and a matrimony of rival clans.
The Headhunter DLC additions for Borderlands 2 are short, side-story driven campaigns that revolve around a central character, and end with a climatic boss that yields more “Heads” for Vault Hunter customization. So far, each DLC has a holiday tie-in; “Bloody Harvest” for Halloween, “Wattle-Gobbler” for Thanksgiving, and “Mercenary Day” for Christmas.
Next up in the Headhunter series is Valentine’s Day-themed “Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre”. Those who dabbled in the many side-quests of Borderlands 2 may have come across the “Clan Wars” epic between the warring Zafords and Hodunks; Moxxi and Innuendo Bot 5000, along with the reluctant help of Ellie, will team up with the Vault Hunters to try and bring peace to both clans through marriage….in theory, of course. According to Gearbox, Vault Hunters need to keep a sharp eye out for Threshers, “especially the ones that live in The Rainbrew Room as they may be swimming in… let’s just call it ‘the left-over distillery products'”. As with previous Headhunter packs, additional “Heads” are unlocked for each character upon completion of “Wedding Day Massacre”, though this batch will be “a little more graphic”, as each head reveals an “inside look” at each Vault Hunter.
“Mad Moxxi and the Wedding Day Massacre” will release on 2/11 for PC, Mac, 360, and PC, with the EU PS3 release coming on 2/12 for $2.99. As Borderlands 2 has been stretched towards its technical limits with DLC, the final add-on and fifth Headhunter DLC “Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax” will release in April; Crawmerax debuted in the “Secret Armory of General Knoxx“, and is considered to be the first “raid boss” in the Borderlands saga.
