‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ Trailer Shows Off Environmental Takedowns, Batmobile Abilities

The Dark Knight and the forces of the Arkham Knight clash at the ACE Chemicals facility in a new trailer for Batman: Arkham Knight.

Batman: Arkham Knight is the fourth chapter of the critically acclaimed Arkham saga. Containing installments from both Rocksteady (Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Arkham Knight) and WB Games Montreal (Arkham Origins, Arkham Origins – Blackgate), the Arkham games tell a darker, slightly alternate take on Batman’s first encounters with the Rogues Gallery of Gotham villains. What started in the claustrophobic hallways of Arkham Asylum, the franchise would eventually evolve into an open-world sandbox series, with the action unfolding within uber-prison Arkham City, and the overrun city of Gotham.

Word may have gotten out earlier than planned, but Rocksteady officially revealed Batman: Arkham Knight back in March. For the first time in the series, players will have complete control of a Christopher Nolan-inspired Batmobile, capable of tearing through the streets as a high-speed vehicle, and a fully-capable tank. Along with several iconic villains- with the main focus being on Scarecrow- the next chapter introduces a new high-tech villain, the enigmatic “Arkham Knight”.

Earlier today, Rocksteady unveiled the first half of a two-part gameplay trailer for Arkham Knight. A previous trailer featured many of the Batmobile’s abilities, including autopilot and the ability to transform into a tank; fans can see both modes in action again, along with the ability to tether itself to- and destroy- a wall. Another first for the series,”Fear Takedowns” can be chained between unsuspecting enemies within range. While the feature is only seen for a few seconds, Batman is capable of performing environmental “finishers”, as seen with a hanging light and a breaker box. The next half of the trailer will debut on 12/1:

Batman: Arkham Knight will release on 6/2/2015 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
