Nine old-school SEGA games are getting the stereoscopic treatment on the 3DS this Spring.
Nintendo and SEGA have been giving some of their older titles a stereoscopic overhaul for the Nintendo 3DS. Listed as part of the “3D Classics” series in the 3DS eShop, players can purchase a handful of NES and Genesis titles, but with added telescopic 3D visuals; with a few exceptions, the titles remain in their original 2D format, however the backgrounds and level elements now feature layered depth. Xevious, Kirby, Kid Icarus and Urban Champion are among the popular titles in the 3D Classics series.
Earlier today, SEGA finally announced a new product that was previously teased this week through social media. This April, SEGA fans with a 3DS can purchase SEGA 3D Classics Collection, a physical cartridge with nine “essential” titles from the early days of SEGA. While some of the featured games are already available either through the 3DS or Wii U in their original 2D format, the collection features updated 3D versions of the titles listed below:
- Altered Beast
- Fantasy Zone II
- Fantasy Zone II W
- Galaxy Force II
- Maze Walker
- Power Drift
- Puyo Puyo 2
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Thunder Blade
SEGA 3D Classics Collection will release exclusively for the 3DS on 4/26 for $30.
