Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- is coming overseas just one week after its Japanese launch.
Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- is the direct follow-up to 2014’s Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-. The 360-exclusive GG2: Overture may have been the first title in the franchise to feature 3D visuals, however the Xrd titles are the first installments in the core saga to feature character models and 3D environments, over traditional hand-drawn sprites and backgrounds; Arc System Works internal development crew Team RED emulated the 2D feel of the older games with an essentially “broken”, heavily modified version of Unreal Engine 3. Neither -SIGN- nor -REVELATOR- feature the entire cast of characters featured in the later Guilty Gear titles, however with the exception of Sin Kiske (playable in GG2: Overture), five new characters have been added into the Guilty Gear universe between the two titles.
Shortly after the announcement of brand new DLC character Kum Haehyun, GGXrd -REVELATOR- was dated for a Japanese release on PS4 and PS3; both versions will release simultaneously on 5/29, with first-print copies including Kum Haehyun as a free download. North American Guilty Gear publisher Aksys Games confirmed through Twitter this afternoon that the localized versions will release just one week later- June 7. Aksys and Arc System Works have not confirmed if North America will receive the same launch-window promotion as Japan; the free launch-window Haehyun DLC is a possibility, as the localized release of Xrd -SIGN- included Elphelt as a free DLC character for the first few weeks.
Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- will release in NA for the PS4 and PS3 on 6/7. A PC version has not been confirmed for any region as of this time.
