The worlds of BlazBlue, Persona 4, UNIEL and RWBY will collide in a brand-new tag-team Fighter from Arc System Works.
Not to be overshadowed by the excitement of Disney’s D23 Expo, the penultimate fighting game tournament EVO is also underway this weekend in Las Vegas, NV. Competitors from across the world gathered this weekend to go head-to-head across several of gaming’s most popular Fighters, including The King of Fighters XIV, Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3, Killer Instinct, Skullgirls 2nd Encore, Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 and BlazBlue: Central Fiction; 2018’s Dragon Ball FighterZ was even on display as an exhibition side-tournament.
The Top 8 and Grand Finals events have officially come to a close for the BlazBlue: Central Fiction tournament, but not before developer Arc System Works made two announcements regarding the future of the franchise. “Jubei” will finally make his debut as a playable character in Central Fiction this Summer as DLC; Jubei serves as the progenitor of the “Kaka” race (humanoid cat-race belonging to fan-favorite character Taokaka) and was one of the original “Six Heroes” who defeated the “Black Beast” in the Great Dark War.
Arc System Works then surprised fans with the reveal of BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, a brand new game coming to consoles next year. The developer’s first 2D tag-team Fighter, Cross Tag Battle also serves as their first cross-over game, featuring characters from BlazBlue, Persona 4 [Arena], Under Night In Birth Exe:Late[st], and guest star Ruby Rose of RWBY fame; each character will utilize his or her gameplay mechanics from their respective franchise.
BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is expected to arrive sometime in 2018.
