‘Star Wars Battlefront 2’ Feature Dives Into Story Mode Production

D23 Expo played host to new behind-the-scenes features for both “The Last Jedi” and Star Wars Battlefront II.

Its original home may have been that of Comic-Con, but the Star Wars franchise has since found itself at the heart of Disney’s biennial D23 Expo, currently being held in Anaheim, CA. With promises of new films, movies and Disney World and Disneyland park attractions on the horizon, Star Wars directors, development teams and Lucasfilm members were more than eager to share some behind-the-scenes details with fans this weekend.

D23’s Star Wars panel didn’t just give wide-eyed fans an in-depth look at the production process of “Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi”, but gamers also got a thorough presentation of the development behind Star Wars Battlefront II‘s single-player story mode.

Fans may already be aware thanks to EA’s lengthy E3 2017 presentation, but Star Wars Battlefront II will link “Episode VI: Return of the Jedi” and “Episode VII: The Force Awakens” by exploring the fall of the Galactic Empire and rise of the New Order. Developer DICE and several actors themselves shed new light on the involved characters through new D23 production footage:

Players assume the role of Iden Versio (Janina Gavankar), born on the Imperial-controlled planet Vardos and trained to serve the Empire at a young age; Versio has since become the Commander of the Empire’s elite covert-ops Inferno Squad, serving directly under her father, Admiral Garrick Versio (Anthony Skordi). Having learned of the death of Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious and witnessed the destruction of the second Death Star over Endor, Iden is tasked with leading the Inferno Squad into unknown territory and upholding the legacy of the Empire. Rounding-out the Inferno Squad are the zealous orphan Hask (Paul Blackthorne) and the Coruscant-born traveler Del (T.J. Ramini).

Star Wars Battlefront II will release for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 11/17.
