Finally, the next-gen title everyone has been waiting for, Tetris is coming to Xbox One and PS4.
Ubisoft announced a new partnership with The Tetris Company earlier today, allowing the developer/publisher to create a new Tetris title to release this year for next-gen consoles. 2014 marks the 30th anniversary of the most popular puzzle-game in the world; named after the tetrominos (shapes created from four connected square blocks) within the game, the deceptively-challenging “puzzler” released in the Soviet Union in 1984, and was later ported across the world. Tetris and its variants have become the most-ported video game series in history, spanning over 61 console, PC and mobile platforms; Tetris is also the most-downloaded paid-title for phones, with over 385 million downloads.
Tetris is even popular enough to escape the boundaries of video games, and end up in other mediums, such as uTorrent and even the side of a building.
