Courtesy of Arc System Works, a new trailer featuring Xrd‘s opening cinematic has been revealed.
Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- is the first “new” GG title to release in several years; most of the past titles have been updates and variations of #Reload: The Midnight Carnival. Built with Unreal Engine, GG Xrd will be the first “Fighter” in the series to feature 3D models, though the rock-influenced style and 2D-gameplay will remain unchanged. The plot has been somewhat of a mystery up until today’s release of the “Arcade Opening” cinematic: Set one year after the events of Guilty Gear 2: Overture, The Backyard- an alternate world within a locked codec that contains the origins of Magic, along with the stored information of the world itself- has been breached from the inside by Ramletherl Valentine, throwing the existing world into chaos:
Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- is undergoing local play-testing in Japan, but will release as a PS3/PS4 exclusive later this year.
