Just one of the many Sony properties that will grace the silver screen, the Uncharted film will begin shooting in early 2015.

Video-game-movies have a hit-or-miss reputation. Sadly, most of them fall within the “miss” category, with the remaining ones being either entertaining and true to the original context, or being so awful that they obtain instant cult-classic status (i.e. “Super Mario Bros” and “Street Fighter: The Movie”). Sony is bringing video games into the film industry in full force; Heavenly Sword, Sly Cooper, and even Gran Turismo all have film adaptations in-works.

Naughty Dog’s Uncharted franchise has also been confirmed to receive a film adaptation, due sometime in the upcoming years. While a projected release date has not been assigned, film director Seth Gordon revealed via Zap2it that filming would begin “very early next year”. Gordon is the third director to take charge of the Uncharted film, following David O. Russel and Neil Burger. An actor has yet to be chosen to fill the role of Nathan Drake, though Mark Wahlberg was in-running for the lead role back when the film was under the previous director, David Russell.
