Sony’s furry, anthromorphic thief stars in his own animated film, coming to theaters in 2016.
Along with Need For Speed, Heavenly Sword and World of Warcraft, Sly Cooper is now among the list of video game franchises to receive a future full-length film. From Rainmaker Entertainment and Blockade Entertainment, and Director Kevin Munroe, “Sly Cooper” will be an origin story of the master thief:
“…Sly learns that he comes from a long line of talented and international thieves and is catapulted into a global adventure as they race to reassemble pieces of an ancient book holding the Cooper clan’s family secrets before it can fall into the hands of Clockwerk – an evil Russian metallic owl bent on ending the Cooper family line.”
Producer Brad Foxhoven says that discussion about the film began last year between PlayStation and original Sly Cooper developers Sucker Punch Productions. Kevin Munroe is credited as the director of the 2007 animated movie “TMNT”, writer for 2003 racing game Freaky Fliers, and is currently producing the “Ratchet & Clank” and “Heavenly Sword” films.
