Shantae’s latest adventure sails onto the Wii U eShop next week, with some console-exclusive features.
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse released this past October for the Nintendo 3DS. The latest adventure from Matt Bozon and WayForward features the former-genie of Scuttle Town pairing up with pirate captain Risky Boots, in a quest to stop the Pirate Master’s resurrection. Instead of Shantae’s signature animal-transformations, Pirate’s Curse has players utilizing Risky’s pirate gear to attack enemies, traverse across environments, unlock secrets and solve puzzles.
Last week, WayForward’s official Facebook page teased that the Wii U release may come before the end of the year, as play-testing was coming to a close at Nintendo of America. Now that testing has ended, the official release date for the Wii U version of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse has been scheduled for 12/25- Christmas day. The Wii U version will include support for the Classic Controller Pro, along with off-TV play on the Wii U Gamepad. The character portraits drawn by Inti Creates staff will also appear in HD for the Wii U release.
Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will be available to download via the Wii U eShop for $19.99 on 12/25. Today is the final day to pre-order and lock-in contribution tiers via PayPal for the Kickstarter prequel, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero.
