Minecraft fans will get a chance to dive deeper into the block-universe, with a new episodic series coming from Mojang and Telltale Games.
Earlier today, Mojang and Telltale Games announced Minecraft: Story Mode. Whether it was read on Telltale’s website, or through the interactive “Info Quest II” game via Mojang, the two teams revealed that they will be collaborating on a brand new Minecraft adventure.
Much like previous Telltale games, Minecraft: Story Mode will be a narrative-driven episodic series. The story will be written by Mojang staff, along with input from the Minecraft community; the later has not been elaborated on, but it’s possible that both studios may develop the series using fan-ideas and contributions. According to Mojang, Story Mode will not be an “official story for Steve” or the world of Minecraft, but rather “a cool game”.
An official release date for the first episode has not been set, however Minecraft: Story Mode will release in 2015 for PC, Mac, Xbox and Sony consoles, and the iOS and Android platforms.
