The Kickstarter campaign for the arcade-inspired racer Drift Stage is officially underway, and already close to its initial funding goal of $30,000.
Drift Stage is a brand new racing game with classic PS1-era visual flair. As the name suggests, Drift Stage features a major emphasis on drifting, with winding tracks and some of the longest banking turns that the Racing genre has to offer; the racing style can best be compared to Daytona USA and Ridge Racer. Avid YouTube watchers or car enthusiasts may have picked up on this project, as it was featured in Road & Track last Summer, and more recently on the Super Best Friends/Two Best Friends Play official YouTube channel.
The Kickstarter campaign went live just a few days ago, and fans have already contributed more than $22,000 of the initial $30,000 funding goal. The trio of talented individuals at Super System Softworks wish to include several modes in Drift Stage including “Daily Challenges”, a track editor and car customization, online multiplayer, and a randomly generated “Infinite Drift” challenge mode.
By contributing a minimum of $10, interested fans can secure a digital copy of the game- DRM free- for either PC, Mac or Linux, along with a Steam key for Steam activation. Higher tiers include Beta access, digital soundtrack, physical window decals, or a custom Drift Stage shirt.
If funded, Drift Stage is projected to release this December for PC, Mac, Linux, and on Steam. A public Alpha build is currently available to download for free, via the official Drift Stage website.
