“Kung Lao” And “Kitana” Confirmed For ‘Mortal Kombat X’

A Shaolin warrior and the former Princess of Edenia are returning to the brutal fighting tournament, as a new trailer for Mortal Kombat X showcases both Kung Lao and Kitana as playable characters.

Mortal Kombat X is the tenth installment in the main, long-running fighting game series. As promised by multiple trailers and live gameplay demos, the next chapter of the Mortal Kombat saga features a darker tone, and possibly some of the most unsettling Fatalities the series has to offer yet. While the gameplay mechanic has been neglected in recent games, each character in Mortal Kombat X is given three different fighting-styles to choose from; depending on the character, these styles may feature a stronger emphasis on magic, weaponry, grappling or close-quarters-combat.

Despite the fact that Ed Boon and Netherrealm have not explained how several characters are returning for a chronological sequel after the events of Mortal Kombat [9], two more characters have been confirmed for Mortal Kombat X– Kung Lao and Kitana. He may have been leaked through an early photo of a magazine article, but Kung Lao returns as an aged fighter, donning a spiked version of his signature hat; Kitana still wields her dual-fans, however she’s dropped her traditional attire for a new battle-ready outfit. Both characters can be seen in-action courtesy of a new trailer from Netherrealm:

Mortal Kombat X will release for Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4 and PC on 4/14. Those who pre-order a copy on any system will also receive Goro as a playable character.
