The once-exclusive PS4 Metroid-throwback, Axiom Verge is heading to Steam and the Humble Store next month.
Axiom Verge is typically described as an homage to Nintendo’s Metroid franchise. Developed entirely by Thomas Happ, Axiom Verge‘s core gameplay involves the solo protagonist exploring a massive unsettling environment in search of new routes to progress, while fighting the bizarre creatures that roam the depths. While it’s easy to spot the Metroid-influenced elements- the “Save Room” and “transition doors” come to mind- Axiom Verge gives players the ability to activate “glitches” in the environment and enemies; apart from basic progression, this can potentially lead to hidden areas and upgrades.
Earlier today, Happ released a new trailer for Axiom Verge, announcing that his title would leap from the PS4 over to PC this May. The minimum system requirements are as follows, courtesy of Steam:
- OS: Windows 7
- CPU: Intel Core i5 M460 @ 2.53Ghz
- Memory: 500MB RAM
- GPU: NVidia GeForce GT 440/AMD HD 5570
- Storage: 200MB available space
While it’s currently unavailable for pre-purchase, Axiom Verge will be available for $19.99 on 5/14 through Steam and the Humble Store.
