‘Mortal Kombat XL’ Announced, DLC Not Coming To PC

The upgraded Mortal Kombat XL and the second character pack will arrive soon, just not for owners of the PC version.

The console versions of Mortal Kombat X were well-received for their improved gameplay mechanics and stunning visuals, however the PC release didn’t fare so well; following the disturbing trend of botched PC-ports in 2015, MKX launched with a multitude of graphical problems, hardware-related errors and mechanical glitches. The PC version has since been upgraded to the standard set by the Xbox One and PS4 releases, and will even feature an online beta test to improve multiplayer across the three platforms.

NetherRealm Studios began adding DLC characters to Mortal Kombat with the introduction of the “Kombat Pack”. The DLC bundle debuted with Mortal Kombat [9], featuring Rain, Kenshi, Skarlet and Freddy Krueger. Following last year’s Kombat Pack for MKX, NetherRealm revealed “Kombat Pack 2”, scheduled to arrive in the near future; the new DLC pack will include Leatherface (“Texas Chainsaw Massacre” series), Bo’ Rai Cho, new character Triborg, and a Tarkatan Xenomorph.

For those who don’t already own MKX, Mortal Kombat XL will release early this March. A “Game of the Year” edition of sorts, MKXL will include every DLC skin and alternate costume, Kombat Pack 1, and the four characters from the upcoming Kombat Pack 2.

Suggested by the lack of Steam and PC logos in the trailer, NetherRealm officially confirmed through Twitter that both Mortal Kombat XL and Kombat Pack 2 will only be available on consoles. It has not been stated whether or not the DLC characters will be released individually for the PC version.

Mortal Kombat XL will release exclusively for Xbox One and PS4 on 3/1.
