Following last year’s E3 gameplay demo, Gears of War 4 finally has an official trailer.
Gears of War 4 is the second Gears title under new studio The Coalition; the successor to Epic Games, The Coalition was responsible for developing the Xbox One and PC releases of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. Set 25 years after the events of Gears of War 3, October’s title places gamers in the shoes of JD Fenix, the son of Gears trilogy protagonist Marcus Fenix, as he leads a new squad of COG soldiers against a new alien threat and the “Outsiders” human rebel group.
Fans got their first taste of Gears of War 4 during Microsoft’s E3 2015 presentation, however the first official trailer debuted last night during the Fear the Walking Dead season premiere. As expected, the trailer upholds the tradition of using a melancholic song paired with a tense chase from an unknown alien threat- in this case, Disturbed’s cover of “The Sound of Silence” by Simon & Garfunkel.
Gears of War 4 will release exclusively for the Xbox One on 10/14. A multiplayer Beta will open for owners of GoW: Ultimate Edition (PC/Xbox One) on 4/18, with Xbox Live Gold members joining in on 4/25, and for the general public on 5/1.
