‘Fear Effect Sedna’ Kickstarter Updates With Console Versions And Gameplay

There’s still a ways to go before the “fourth” Fear Effect is funded, however Sushee gave fans and backers an extended look at what fans have to expect from Sedna.

After a nearly 15 year hiatus, Fear Effect returned last month as a Kickstarter campaign from developer Sushee Games. Considered by Sushee to be the “fourth” installment of the series following the unreleased third game Fear Effect: Inferno, Fear Effect Sedna will take the franchise into unexpected territory; the crowdfunding campaign promises a third-person isometric tactical-action game with the familiar tones of the Fear Effect saga. Fear Effect Sedna takes place after the events of the original Fear Effect, with Hana, Rain, Deke and Glas reuniting under various circumstances for another mission. Despite the new look, Sedna promises to uphold the gameplay legacy of challenging puzzles and surrealist adventure laid out by the previous games.

With the final week of the Kickstarter campaign quickly approaching, the official Fear Effect Sedna page recently updated with some new announcements. If the campaign reaches its initial funding goal of €100,000/$114,106, Fear Effect Sedna will release for both the PS4 and Xbox One alongside the PC version. According to the new Kickstarter update, console versions are now possible thanks to Sushee “[securing] the required funds recently”. As such, a console-based reward tier has been added at €20/$23.

Sushee released a new 2 min. developer walkthrough highlighting some of the basic mechanics of Fear Effect Sedna. As assured by Lead Designer Thibaut Romaggi, the demo is an early prototype, with skill meters and other UI features to come later. Fear Effect veterans and new fans can watch Romaggi attempt to solve a new puzzle, and witness Hana and Glas engage in enemy combat using the new slow-motion tactical mechanics:

If Fear Effect Sedna is funded, the title is projected to release for PC, Xbox One and PS4 in May 2017. Nine days remain for the Kickstarter, with the campaign currently sitting at $82,373/$114,106 (€72,149/€100,000).
