Not to be confused with Margot Robbie and Will Smith, Deadshot and Harley Quinn are joining the second round of the DC Comics brawl.
Mortal Kombat developer Netherrealm Studios previously announced Injustice 2 at E3 2016, the sequel to their original Fighter adaptation of the DC Comics universe. The title is set in an alternate timeline where Joker succeeds in destroying Metropolis; The act sends Superman into a blind rage, thus killing Joker and establishing himself as a new super-powered political figure; reminiscent of Marvel’s original Civil War arc, Superman’s new order dictates that heroes must work under his rule, or be hunted as fugitives. Apart from the upcoming sequel, the success of Injustice: Gods Among Us spawned a mobile version and a widely popular comic series of the same name.
Injustice 2 occurs shortly after the events of Gods Among Us, with several new heroes entering the political war between DC heroes and villains. Supergirl, Gorilla Grodd, Red Lantern Atrocitus and Blue Beetle will join Batman, Flash, Superman and company for the sequel, each with new abilities and customizable armor parts. Earlier this week, Netherrealm released a new Gamescom 2016 trailer for Injustice 2 featuring two more playable villains; Harley Quinn returns to the fray, alongside the debut of the ace sharpshooter Deadshot.
Injustice 2 will release sometime next year for Xbox One and PS4.
