‘Injustice 2’ Coming To Consoles This May

The super-powered DC Comics showdown comes to the Xbox One and PS4 this May.

The heroes and villains of DC Comics are gearing up for another round with Injustice 2, now scheduled to release this May for the Xbox One and PS4. The sequel to Netherrealm’s 2nd outing with the DC Universe- Injustice: Gods Among Us- the comic-book fighting game series includes a much darker take on the DC world, with Joker successfully destroying Metropolis, and with it Lois Lane. The event tips Superman well past his boiling point, resulting in the “Man of Steel” murdering Batman’s greatest foe, establishing a new world dictatorship, and outlawing all outside super-human activity.

More rumors than actual details have been trickling out ever since Injustice 2‘s official E3 2016 reveal, however the confirmed roster currently includes Batman, Superman, Flash, Aquaman, Gorilla Grodd, Red Lantern Atroticus, Deadshot, Wonder Woman, Blue Beetle and Harley Quinn. It’s unclear how much of an effect the system will have on competitive play, however Injustice 2 will also feature a new “Gear” mechanic, enabling players to customize each characters appearance, statistics and attack properties.

Netherrealm Studios Creative Director and Mortal Kombat Co-Creator Ed Boon recently announced the official Injustice 2 release date through Twitter. The post simply reads “i2.05.16.17” against a solid black background.

The early May release could also hint at Injustice 2 making an appearance at EVO 2017, though competitor registration and the available titles will not be available until next month.

Injustice 2 will release for PS4 and Xbox One on 5/16. A PC version has not been announced as of this time.
