Cuphead will now grace the Xbox One and PC in “1936 + 81” years.
First revealed back in 2014, Studio MDHR’s Cuphead is an upcoming side-scroller/Shmup hybrid with an interconnected overworld featuring levels highlighting both of the challenging genres. Cuphead‘s unique style can be traced back to the early 1930’s, as the title uses hand-drawn and inked animation backed by a live big band soundtrack.
Cuphead was originally expected to release in “1936 + 80 years”, however that date has since been pushed up to “1936 + 81”. A recent blog post from Studio MDHR expands on their decision to postpone the release window:
“Hey everyone, we wanted to finish our game 80 years after 1936 but it will now be 81.Throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact.”
Cuphead will now release in mid-2017 for Xbox One and PC through Steam and the Windows 10 Store.
