The challenging twin-stick shooter from Dog Theory Games finally has an official Steam launch date.
Disastr_Blastr first appeared as an XBLA exclusive back in February 2015. From Joel Christiansen and Joey Schmidt of Dog Theory Games, the title features over 100 levels of chaotic twin-stick shooter action. Players guide themselves through a blocky minimalist world destroying a wide variety of enemy cubes; the most docile of enemies may take the form of a huge lumbering gray block, while more aggressive types gladly return fire, even chasing the player down until their demise. Progression isn’t entirely open-ended, however players have the freedom to complete levels in their own order; with each completed stage, players will unlock the adjacent levels in the master Level Select grid. Outside of the eight worlds and bosses, Disastr_Blastr offers an additional Challenge Mode for the most extreme of players, shown as the separate tower on the right-hand side of the Level Select screen.
After some time on itch.io and Steam Greenlight, Disastr_Blastr is finally seeing an official Steam Marketplace release next Monday. The updated PC release includes extra items and bonus weapons exclusive to the Steam version; the upcoming release also supports resolutions up to 1080p, with the added bonus of an active Fullscreen/Windowed toggle on the D-Pad. Disastr_Blastr‘s Steam version includes Steamworks support with the traditional assortment of Steam Achievements, Trading Cards, and Global and Friend-Only Leaderboards. The system requirements are as follows, courtesy of Steam:
Minimum:
- OS: Windows 7 SP1 or newer
- Processor: 3.2 GHz
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVidia GeForce 310 or equivalent
- Storage: 50 MB available space
Disastr_Blastr will release through Steam on 11/21 for $4.99; the soundtrack from Joey Schmidt will be available as a separate DLC purchase on a later date.
