The high-speed combat racing of WipEout finds a new home on the PS4 next year.
Sony’s flagship light-speed racing franchise WipEout hasn’t seen a new installment since 2012’s WipEout 2048 for the PlayStation Vita. As with Phil Spencer’s Battletoads shirt, Sony’s Shawn Layden casually hinted at the franchise’s return via a black shirt with one of WipEout‘s numerous logos.
Halfway through today’s PlayStation Experience keynote presentation, WipEout fans got a look at the new PS4 fusion of the two last-gen entries in the series- Wipeout HD [and Fury], and WipEout 2048. Announced as the WipEout Omega Collection, players can access all 26 circuits and 46 ships from the two games together in one definitive WipEout package. Both games and the Fury expansion have been given a true HD overhaul complete with 4K visuals and HDR support through the PS4 Pro.
WipEout Omega Collection will release for the PS4 and PS4 Pro in Summer 2017.
