A shiny new coat of paint comes to KOF XIV with the upcoming 1.1 update.
After several years of bizarre spin-offs, SNK’s long-running KOF franchise returned to its roots with The King of Fighters XIV. The PS4-exclusive Fighter includes the largest roster of playable characters to-date, and the debut of a heavily requested online 6-player versus mode, where each individual fighter is controlled by a separate player on either team. Though it was nominated for “Best Fighter” at this year’s Game Awards event, KOF XIV is often under fire for its visual scheme, ditching 2D sprites and backgrounds for 3D elements.
KOF developer and publisher SNK Playmore and Atlus announced the upcoming “Version 1.1” update through a new trailer; the footage was also shown during the 2016 PlayStation Experience this past weekend. The free patch brings new shading elements to the character models and stages, and includes six additional color schemes for each fighter. Version 1.1 will come as a free download sometime in January.
The King of Fighters XIV is available exclusively for the PS4.
