After a year of silence, returning characters Lilac and Carol are shown in debut gameplay trailers for Freedom Planet 2.
Freedom Planet originally released for PC in Summer 2014 thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, with Mac, Linux, Wii U and PS4 versions following the next year. A remarkable call-back to the 16-bit Sega Genesis catalog of Platformers, Freedom Planet originally began as an old-school Sonic the Hedgehog fan-game before it was conceptualized as an original fast-paced side-scroller with a surprisingly deep political story.
Developer GalaxyTrail gave fans a present in the form of a sequel announcement on Christmas 2015, however updates regarding the Freedom Planet sequel have been practically nonexistent for the past year. Last week, GalaxyTrail finally released the first of two gameplay debut trailers, with each showcasing a returning character from the original game. Both trailers depict a work-in-progress version of the game, but it appears Freedom Planet 2 still holds the fun of the original’s fast-paced Sonic-inspired gameplay.
Freedom Planet 2 is in development for PC, Mac and Linux.
