The major KOF XIV visual update is finally here alongside other DLC goodies.
The latest chapter of SNK’s long-running cross-over fighting saga, The King of Fighters XIV released last September exclusively for the PS4. The fourteenth game in the core series includes the largest roster of playable fighters thus far, featuring more than 50 characters to choose from. Though KOF XIV retains most of the gameplay mechanics of its predecessors, the visual style once again abandoned 2D sprites for 3D character models and environments; the last title to use 3D visuals in the core Fighter series was KOF 2006/Maximum Impact 2.
KOF XIV publisher Atlus USA has officially released the Version 1.10 update through PSN as a free download. The first major update for the title includes an overhauled lighting engine, enabling dynamic light and model shading across all characters and stages. Each character will also receive two additional color palettes as free DLC bundled with the update.
KOF XIV developer SNK Playmore recently released a series of free PS4 Home Original Themes and a costume for Athena based on her KOF ’98 appearance, which can be found within the PSN Store.
The King of Fighters XIV is available both digitally and physically for the PS4.
