‘Injustice 2’ Story Trailer Reveals Five New Characters, Special Editions Announced

Some of the most dangerous villains of the DC Universe are gearing up for war in the latest trailer for Injustice 2.

Injustice: Gods Among Us is Netherrealm’s mature second take on the DC Comics Universe following the bizarre cross-over Mortal Kombat VS DC Universe. The 2013 Fighter depicted a reality in which Superman went berserk and established a world dictatorship after the destruction of Metropolis. All outside superhuman activity was outlawed, thus creating an unorthodox team-up of heroes and villains siding with either Superman’s mind-controlled forces or Batman’s underground resistance. Gods Among Us was popular enough to spawn both a comic series from DC and Dark Horse, and a mobile game that still receives new content and updates on a regular basis.

Injustice 2 publisher WB Games unveiled a new cinematic trailer this morning, giving DC fans a tease at some of the uncanny new alliances between heroes and villains. In the midst of the action, fans will witness Batman and new character Robin trading blows, and the reveals of Bane, Poison Ivy and two of DC’s most dangerous villains- Brainiac and Darkseid; the latter will be available as a playable character for those who pre-order a copy, similar to Mortal Kombat X‘s Goro.

DC Comics fans have two additional versions of the game to select from at launch: The $79.99 “Deluxe Edition” will include exclusive character skins, extra Gear items, “dialogue for a specific character”, and 3 DLC characters upon their individual releases; at $99.99, the “Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition” will feature the Deluxe content plus 3 Premiere “alternate character” skins for Flash, Green Lantern and Supergirl, “Destroyer” and “Defender” Shader packs, and 9 DLC characters once they become available to download.

It’s worth noting that fans can pre-purchase either 3 or 9 DLC characters through the Deluxe and Ultimate versions, though a proper Season Pass has not been announced.

Injustice 2 will release for Xbox One and PS4 on 5/16.
