New ‘Injustice 2’ Footage Debuts “Black Canary”

IGN has the first look at the latest Injustice 2 fighter- Birds of Prey and former Justice League member Black Canary.

Mortal Kombat developer Netherrealm Studios is returning to the world of DC Comics once again with Injustice 2. The PS4 and Xbox One follow-up to 2013’s Injustice: Gods Among Us, Injustice 2 sees the DC Universe still fractured at the hands of Superman after the former hero imposes a new world order under his rule. Following the Man of Steel’s imprisonment by a rogue unit of heroes and villains under Batman, new evils have risen up to establish dominance over the warring factions of the DCU.

Set to arrive this May, Injustice 2 already features a solid roster of new fighters of both the recognizable and obscure sort, including Red Lantern Atrocitus, Blue Beetle, Gorilla Grodd, Robin, Supergirl, Wonder Woman and Deadshot; also confirmed by the recent cinematic trailer are DC Comics “Big Bads” Brainiac and Darkseed. Earlier today, IGN debuted more gameplay for Injustice 2, this time highlighting new roster addition Black Canary. Depending on the DC Comics series of choice, the florist-turned-crime fighter, Justice Society of America, Justice League, League of Assassins and Birds of Prey member is an acrobatic fighter equipped with her signature “Canary Cry” ability, allowing the heroine to cripple enemies with just the sound of her voice.

Injustice 2 will release for Xbox One and PS4 on 5/16. Three versions will be available for purchase; apart from the base game ($59.99), DC fans can opt to purchase the $79.99 “Deluxe Edition” (cosmetic DLC, 3 unannounced future DLC characters) or the $99.99 “Ultimate Edition” (cosmetic DLC, 9 unannounced future DLC characters). Neither a proper Season Pass nor PC version have been announced as of this time.
