‘Guilty Gear Xrd REV2’ Announced, Adds Two More Characters

The third chapter of Guilty Gear Xrd is coming soon, and bringing some ninjas along to the battle.

Guilty Gear franchise Director, Creator, Illustrator, Composer and just-about-everything-else-guy Daisuke Ishiwatari announced a handful of updates to Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- during EVO 2016. The second chapter of the Xrd saga, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- players were given a new model viewer and diorama mode enabling players to arrange characters and take custom screenshots, Elphelt Valentine’s original -SIGN- costume, and the return of fan-favorite character Dizzy as the final DLC character.

Developer Arc System Works still isn’t done with the 3D Guilty Gear title, as the studio recently announced Guilty Gear Xrd REV2. The latest installment includes several gameplay changes and balance adjustments to characters, some of whom will receive new attacks and variations of preexisting ones. REV2 will bring in two extra characters, the “Business Ninja” and the “Lone Samurai” Answer and Baiken. Answer appears in the Story Mode for both Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- and Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- as Chipp Zanuff’s Chief of Staff and tactician. A series mainstay, Baiken finally made her Xrd debut in -REVELATOR-, but was limited only to cameo status in the Story Mode alongside Zappa and Robo-Ky. The samurai is hellbent on getting revenge against series antagonist “That Man” for the loss of her family, village, an eye and an arm after an attack from the Gears creatures, but her travels are put to a halt when she aides Kum Haehyun/Jonryoku and Jam Kuradoberi in Japan. Raven, Kum, Dizzy, Jam, Johnny, Answer and Baiken will all receive story elemens to their Arcade Modes, however no major additions to the Story Mode will be made.

Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 will release for the PS3, PS4 and PC sometime this Spring as both a digital download and stand-alone title. Those who already own Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- will have the option of upgrading to REV2 via a large DLC update.
