What was supposed to show during EVO 2016, upcoming Guilty Gear Xrd content is shown in a new “abridged” trailer.
Another exciting round of competitive fighting game tournaments has come and gone, as EVO 2016 was held last weekend at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The event is regarded as one of the most prestigious international fighting game competitions, featuring thousands of players across several current and popular fighting games; this year’s headlining tournaments included the likes of Street Fighter V, Mortal Kombat X[L], Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, Killer Instinct: Season 3, and returning favorites Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 and Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Several announcements came between each tournament, including Tekken 7‘s Bob and gender-bent Raven, EVO Japan, and the free demo and new trailers for The King of Fighters XIV. Shortly after the Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- Grand Finals, Guilty Gear General Director and Producer Daisuke Ishiwatari took the stage to present fans with the first look at DLC character Dizzy. Dizzy is the winner of a Japan-exclusive fan-poll held last year, and will be free for a limited time on both the PS3 and PS4.
An extended trailer was planned for EVO 2016, but was not shown due to technical difficulties. Arc System Works recently uploaded the intended footage online as an “abridged trailer”, showcasing both Dizzy gameplay and the future “Digital Figure Mode”; this new mode acts as a character-model viewer, allowing Guilty Gear fans to pose models and create dioramas. While it isn’t shown in-game during the trailer, Elphelt’s original costume from Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- is also available as DLC for both the PS3 and PS4 versions of –REVELATOR-.
Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- is currently available for PS3 and PS4. A PC version is rumored to release sometime this Winter- potentially within 6 months.
