The first hour of Prey is now free to experience on Xbox One and PS4.
From the Dishonored team of Arkane Studios and Bethesda comes Prey, a completely re-imagined reboot of the classic sci-fi horror series from Human Head Studios, 3D Realms and 2K Games. 11 years after the franchise’s debut, the series now thrusts players into the role of Morgan Yu aboard the Talos I space station. The scientist finds quickly finds himself/herself in a less-than-favorable situation within the research facility, as the entire station has been overtaken by hostile aliens capable of mimicking objects in the surrounding environment.
Though gamers may have to wait one more week before its official launch, Bethesda and Arkane released a free demo yesterday afternoon through Xbox Live and PSN. As the name would suggest, the “Prey Demo: Opening Hour” lets players experience the opening 60 minutes of the game as either a male or female Morgan Yu; what may be a minor setback for some, progress will not carry over to the full game upon release. According to a quote made from Arkane Studios to Polygon, the Opening Hour demo will not release for PC due to ongoing optimization adjustments for the final version:
“We appreciate the enthusiasm in the PC community for Prey, and the interest in a PC demo. The team at Arkane has been fully focused on optimizing and finalizing the PC version of the game. We aim to deliver the best PC experience to our fans — and are hard at work to do just that.”
Prey will release for PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 5/5.
