‘Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2’ PC Release Date Announced

The PC version of Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 comes to PC soon after its console counterpart. “Soon”, being six days.

The wait for Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 is almost over, with approximately one month remaining until its worldwide release on PS3 and PS4. Apart from a slew of gameplay changes and balance-related updates, the stand-alone upgrade includes the likes of Arcade/Episode Mode cutscenes for the extra characters added within Xrd -REVELATOR-, new items for M.O.M. “Medal of Millionaires” Mode, new stages, and new characters Answer and Baiken.

Developer Arc System Works and regional publishers Aksys and PQube previously confirmed the PS3 and PS4 release dates to be on May 25 and 26 in their respective regions, but have been silent on the PC version, as it will not be published under either company; the PC versions of both Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN- and Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- were published under Arc System Works on Steam. According to a recent press release from Arc System Works, the studio will once again act as the publisher for the PC version, and has scheduled an official release date of June 1.

The announcement and companion trailer are presented in Japanese, however fans can expect to purchase the PC version through Steam as an upgrade to Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, akin to the digital-only PS3 version; the upgrade will cost $19.99, however those without -REVELATOR- must purchase a bundle containing both games for roughly $49.99. Arc System Works also confirmed $19.99 as the upgrade cost to the PS3 version.

The previously-mentioned companion trailer spends 11 minutes discussing the new features of REV 2 and revamped online lobby mode:

Players can now jump directly into “Lobby”, “Ranked Match” and “Player Match” from the main menu; regardless of the mode, matchmaking will prioritize players of the same skill level. New players have the option of participating in beginners-only lobbies, indicated on the lobby selection screen by a yellow-and-green arrow. The new online hub will feature “Three-Win Cabinets” in the middle of the area, where players compete in tournament-style best-of-5 matches. Players will have access to more custom colors and character-specific accessories for avatar-customization; avatars will also have an arrow beside their name, indicating whether their skill level is higher or lower than the player’s own current standing. To pass time between matches, players can search for treasure chests in the lobby area, containing avatar customization options and items for M.O.M. Mode.

System requirements are as follows, courtesy of Arc System Works:
