North America, Japan and now Europe will receive Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 on consoles just hours from each other.
Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 is the “2.5” installment of Arc System Works’s rebooted Guilty Gear franchise, acting as both a digital upgrade and stand-alone expansion to last year’s Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-. The upcoming installment includes additional Arcade/Episode content for the previous DLC characters and new additions Baiken and Answer, new stages and character theme songs, extra items to be found in M.O.M. “Medal of Millionaires” Mode, and a plethora of mechanical changes for more balanced gameplay.
It’s common to see longer interregional release delays for Japanese Fighters, not just for localization, but the added process of porting titles from arcade distribution to home consoles and/or PC. Though Arc System Works games tend to be the prime example of this practice, Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 will release for the PS4 and PS3 in Japan just two months after its March arcade debut; the North American release will arrive the day after on May 26. Yesterday afternoon, publisher PQube launched the official European Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 website, announcing the official release date for their region; European, North American and Japanese gamers will all go head-to-head on the same day- 5/26.
Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 will release on 5/26 for PS4 and PS3, followed by the PC version via Steam on a later date; the PS4 version will be available for purchase as both a physical and digital title, though PS3 owners will see their options limited to either a digital copy or an upgrade to a pre-existing copy of Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-.
